Kiarash Aramesh, M.D., Ph.D., is a faculty member at the Department of Biology and Earth and Environmental Sciences. He also serves as the director of the James F. Drane Bioethics Institute at Pennsylvania Western (PennWest) University. He is a physician, and his specialty is in community medicine.
He also holds a Ph.D. in Healthcare Ethics. Before joining PennWest, he had worked as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Healthcare Ethics at Duquesne University in 2017-18 and at the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2013-14. He also worked as a faculty member at the Medical Ethics and History of Medicine Research Center at Tehran University of Medical Sciences from 2005 to 2017.
He has published numerous books and articles and delivered several invited lectures and presentations on various bioethical topics. His current research interests include the science-pseudoscience debate in healthcare, biopolitics, clinical research ethics, and public health ethics.
