Singers from California, Clarion and Edinboro are giving new meaning to a three-part harmony.

For the first time in the history of Pennsylvania Western University, collegiate singers from each campus will come together for a combined choir concert featuring the PennWest Cal Choir, PennWest Clarion Concert Choir and the PennWest Edinboro Singers.

Concert choirs from all three campuses will harmonize during the PennWest Choir Concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23, in Edinboro's Louis C. Cole Auditorium.

Each campus choir will perform four songs from their individual catalogue, followed by a combined spiritual/gospel number with all singers.

“I think it's great that we get a chance to sing together as one,” said Isabella Hernandezsire, liberal studies major and vice president of the PennWest Cal Choir. “It's important to show that all three campuses can come together for something like this.”

For PennWest, this is one example of the individual campuses coming together to present a collective project based on art and music.

“I can think of no better way to show the strength of our integrating than to put together those talented students from three campuses on one stage,” said Dr. Yuko Ikach, associate dean of PennWest’s College of Education, Arts, and Humanities. “The students are truly excited to see their California, Edinboro and Clarion choir brothers and sisters.”

Admission is free for the choir concert, which will be broadcast live on Edinboro Now’s YouTube channel.‍
