PennWest California arts on display during ‘Open Studios’

Jaydin King, secondary education – art, leads the group in painting a sunset

PennWest California’s visual and performing arts students will open their doors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 16 for Open Studios, a free event held at Cal’s ceramics lab and quad.

The event will feature live art demonstrations, opportunities to create your own art, an artist market, and live music.

Notable alumni participating in Open Studios include Laurie Barnes, Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Mattress Factory; Valerie Herrero, an art teacher and Artist in Residence at Carlow University; Jennifer Martin Adamson, owner of Kiln to Table Pottery and Eatery; Daniel Tomcik, a wood-fire potter and pizza maker; Daniel Kuhn, owner of Ton Pottery; Joe Mruk, Regional Advisor for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators; Jamie Zelmore, a professional bench jeweler; Daniel Surovchak, owner and operator of Emmy Pots; Andrew Tischler, a glass artist and owner of Andrew Tischler Glass; and musicians Scott and Rosanna Spidler.

Students from the Ceramics, Art, and Graphic Design clubs will be present to showcase their work and assist during the event. Artwork by local artists, including pieces created by Ringgold Area High School students, will also be on display.
