The Government Agency Coordination Office (GACO) APEX Accelerator program at Pennsylvania Western University has been named this year’s Hall of Fame honoree by the MWDBE Governmental Committee.
The recognition celebrates GACO’s long-standing commitment to fostering economic growth for historically underutilized businesses.
Each year, the MWDBE Governmental Committee selects a program or individual demonstrating exceptional dedication to improving opportunities for minority, women-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises.
GACO and PennWest University were nominated by a committee member for their impact in supporting businesses through government contracting assistance.
Since its inception in 1985, GACO has been a pivotal resource in western Pennsylvania, helping businesses secure over $4.8 billion in government contracts and subcontracts, including $1.5 billion awarded to Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MBEs and WBEs). As part of the Department of Defense’s APEX Accelerator initiative, GACO provides critical training, resources, and assistance to businesses seeking to engage with federal, state, and local government agencies.
“We are honored to be recognized for our ongoing efforts to strengthen and diversify the government contracting sector,” said Kate Glodek, director of GACO, APEX Accelerator. “This recognition underscores our commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth for historically underutilized businesses.”
GACO is based at PennWest California, with satellite offices in Pittsburgh and Cranberry Township. For more information about GACO and its programs, visit https://www.pennwest.edu/about/offices-services/gaco/index.php.
