May 2025 graduate holds championship dreams

Digital media major trades the sideline for the spotlight, and maybe a championship belt

Michael Kozminksi

For Greenville, Pennsylvania, native Michael Kozminski, the roar of the crowd and the thrill of competition weren't just spectator sports. They were a calling. This passion led him to pursue a digital media degree at PennWest Edinboro.

"I always wanted to do media in college for sports, and I thought Edinboro provided the best chances for me to do this," Kozminski said.

Edinboro has, indeed, become the arena for his burgeoning talents. Immersed in practical learning, Kozminski took the initiative to launch his own show, "Tailgate Talks," which he cites as one of his most impactful experiences. Active participation in campus media has further broadened his understanding of the media landscape.

In addition to pursuing sports media, Kozminski has another aspiration: professional wrestling.

"My long-term goal is to achieve my childhood dream and be a pro wrestler, and win the World Championship for All Elite Wrestling or WWE."

This unique fusion of media expertise and athletic aspiration fuels his determined spirit. Kozminski readily acknowledges the pivotal roles of several collaborators and mentors,  specifically his "Tailgate Talks" co-hosts Alex Brown and Dom Kaiser, and Professor Ron Raymond. Audio assignments under Raymond have been instrumental in refining his editing skills.

Beyond academics, his experience at Edinboro has led to personal growth.

"I feel like I always was shy," Kozminski said. "I think what people have done for me is help me break out of that shell and become more open. Also, college has given me more confidence to go for that championship."

For incoming college students, Kozminski offers powerful and personal advice: "If you get knocked down, and you think you can't recover, fight and work hard. Treat everyone with respect, and if you feel undesirable, become undeniable."
