Our mission is to increase Pennsylvania Western University’s competitiveness in securing, managing, and promoting research and programs supported by external funding.

Vision

Our office is dedicated to helping faculty and staff pursue, execute, and manage externally funded projects. Whether your funding comes from community foundations, family trusts, or state and federal agencies, the Office of Grants and Special Projects is here to support you every step of the way.

PennWest partners with IUP Research Institute for comprehensive grants administration support throughout the lifecycle of your project, from proposal development to closeout.

Highlighted Funded Projects

PennWest Edinboro Beehive, member of NWPA Innovation Beehive Network, led by director Chris Lantinen offers a variety of free services to support entrepreneurs in starting and growing their businesses. Students gain design and marketing experience, while building their portfolios with real-world business owners.

PennWest University Nursing Department faculty member Randilyn Lewis is leading an initiative to increase the number of trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners in underserved and rural communities across western Pennsylvania. Through this program, selected students receive funding for tuition, fees, and certification costs for 12 graduate credits.

The ACCESS S-STEM Scholarship provides up to $10,000 per year to qualifying students pursuing Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechatronics Engineering Technology degrees. Director Brenton Wilburn leads the effort to prepare students for high-demand well paying careers through career development opportunities, specialty academic advising, and more!
