Why ROTC at PennWest?
Each campus’ Department of Military Science provides a program of leadership development
which prepares college men and women for service as Officers in the United States
Army. After graduation, they serve as commissioned officers on active duty, or as
an officer in an Army Reserve or National Guard unit.
Program Objectives
The primary objective of the ROTC program is to commission the future officer leadership
of the U.S. Army. In peace or war, this is one of the most important missions that
can be undertaken. Upon completing the ROTC Program, you will be commissioned as a
second lieutenant, with the promise of an active career in the armed forces for the
next 20 to 30 years.
Benefits of ROTC
If you complete the Advanced ROTC program, you will achieve three significant accomplishments
during your collegiate career:
- A Bachelor’s of Science or Arts in your chosen major
- A Minor in Adaptive Leadership and Military Studies
- A commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army
- In addition, ROTC opens up a world of opportunities, including:
- 2-4 Year Scholarships available that cover 100% tuition, books and fees
- Room and board waiver possible for a limited number of cadets
- Guaranteed leadership track position with the military upon graduation
- Immediately have a career and career experience following college.
- No Immediate obligations to the program until your junior year
- Committed cadets receive a monthly stipend: ranging from $350-$500
- Multiple internship opportunities include working with the FBI, the Army Science Board,
Forensic Internship Program, Army Medical Internship Program Nursing Internship at
an Army hospital and many more!
- Accelerated program available to students interested in joining after their first
and second years at Edinboro or to those who have already completed Army Basic Training
