The MFA degree in Painting is a three-year residency program designed to bolster formal and technical skills while enabling students to explore their conceptual vision. Students work with Painting and Drawing faculty, as well as with graduate faculty from other studio disciplines. Studio coursework is supplemented by art history and fine arts seminars, which provide a forum for painters to work with graduate students across disciplines. These seminars enable MFA students to gain historical awareness, professional skills, and a deeper understanding of the context in which they create art. Each MFA Painting student is provided with a semi-private studio with 24-hour access. The graduate Painting program is bolstered by a strong roster of undergraduate students.
