The MFA in printmaking is a three-year residency program that offers students the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of printmaking processes as they construct a resolved body of work that utilizes the unique image-making potential inherent in printmaking. In addition to coursework in printmaking, students enroll in a seminar course each semester working with students from all MFA studio disciplines. The fall seminar is taught by an art historian and deals with contemporary topics in art history. Spring seminars are taught by studio artists and focus on professional practices, aesthetics, and art theory. Students have 24/7 access to a shared studio space with equipment for all print processes and a private studio with an inking station, ventilation and an intaglio press. Printmaking faculty are in the studio four days a week allowing students regular consistent direct feedback. Students may work with Egress Press and Research, a fine art publishing component of the printmaking program, honing their collaborative skills as a master printer.
