Attention Commuters and Visitors

Whether you commute daily or are an occasional or first-time visitor to campus, getting familiar with parking and transportation options will make your time on campus hassle-free.

Visitors to campus may utilize the pay-by-meter / license parking in Lot 11 and Lot 17 or the Vulcan Garage. The Vulcan Garage has 660 spaces and five levels of parking and is open for temporary hourly parking and permit holders.

Students who wish to park on campus must register and obtain a parking permit/hang tag. A variety of parking options are available, including accommodations for drivers with handicapped placards.

Permits are not automatically renewed. Students with an existing parking permit must access their parking account online to renew their parking permit for the semester.

Pay Your Fine

Due to a transportation agreement between MMVTA and PennWest, students with a valid PennWest California ID ride the Vulcan Flyer at no charge. All other MMVTA routes will have a discounted fee (Local $1, Pittsburgh $2).

Vulcan Flyer

Vulcan Flyer shuttles, which provide regular transportation between Vulcan Village, Roadman Park and the main campus through a partnership with the Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority, will operate according to the following schedule during the 2024-2025 academic year.

MONDAY-FRIDAY 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Every 30 minutes

SATURDAY 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Every 30 minutes

In addition to on-campus service, the Vulcan Flyer shuttle provides transportation to the Walmart plaza in West Brownsville. The frequency of Walmart routes will increase this fall to every 40 minutes Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until the final pickup at Walmart at 9 p.m. Trips to Walmart will follow the Local 5 schedule on Saturday and Sunday.

A stop has also been added near the intersection of 3rd and Union streets in the California Borough.

About the Vulcan Flyer Shuttle service:

  • Service by the Mid Mon Valley Transportation Authority features natural gas buses.
  • Students with a valid PennWest California ID card can utilize the Vulcan Flyer campus route free of charge. Employees will be required to pay normal MMVTA fares.
  • Ridership on other MMVTA routes is pay as you use, with discounted rates available to students ($1 local and $2 to Pittsburgh). Additional fare information is available here: https://mmvta.com/fares-ticketing/
