New PennWest portal helps families stay connected
Online platform delivers 24/7 access to important news, deadlines and resources
Pennsylvania Western University has partnered with CampusESP to launch the Parent and Family Portal, a web-based resource designed to enhance the PennWest family experience and promote student success.
Introduced on June 1, the portal is a free service for all PennWest parents, guardians and family members who want to stay informed throughout their student’s academic journey.
The portal, which includes a mobile application, offers one-stop, customizable access to campus news, events and other timely information.
“Parents and families often play a critical role in helping students navigate various aspects of their college experience,” said Melissa Dunn, PennWest’s director of student development. “This new tool will allow us to strengthen the lines of communication between campuses, students and families and to work together toward our shared goal of degree completion.”
Users can personalize their experience to receive curated content on deadlines, support services, scholarships, resources and programs specific to student needs. Families can also set the method and frequency of notifications, ask questions of university staff and connect with other PennWest family members.
With student permission, family members can monitor their student’s academic progress and view housing information, health and wellness updates and financial details.
“We are passionate about student success and excited about the benefits of this platform,” Dunn said. “It will be easier than ever for family members to find support for their students.”
