A Lifelong Love Story Forged at PennWest

Tim and Judy Camus

Tim and Judy’s journey began on the vibrant Cal U (now PennWest) campus, where close bonds and lifelong memories were formed amid academic rigor and genuine community spirit. As a first-generation college student, Tim experienced firsthand how the intimate campus setting “held me accountable” from day one. He often reflects on that early chapter of his life: “I was a freshman, and I got to meet my beautiful wife, Judy.” Their connection blossomed through campus life and the Greek community, with Tim leading Alpha Kappa Lambda and Judy actively involved with Delta Chi. The picturesque campus—with its enchanting fall landscapes and historic buildings—provided the ideal backdrop for their budding romance.

After graduating in the mid-1980s, the couple’s paths took them from Florida to Atlanta and eventually Washington, D.C. Tim’s career advanced from his early work as a federal agent to a role as deputy inspector for the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, and later he embraced leadership as vice president of the California Alumni Association. Meanwhile, Judy, armed with a degree in speech communication, thrived in roles ranging from PR director to patient care representative, later dedicating herself to community service through organizations like the American Red Cross.

Now, with nearly 40 years of marriage behind them, their enduring partnership continues to inspire. Tim shares, “On the days that I may lack or when I’m not on my A-game, I have someone fully supporting me, ready to go, never wanting to see me fail.” Their return to Pittsburgh after retirement has deepened connections with old friends, enabled them to care for aging parents, and allowed them to give back to their alma mater. Their advice to today’s students is simple: seek partners and communities that share your passion and work ethic. Tim and Judy’s life together is a testament to the transformative power of education, dedication, and unwavering support—a legacy that lives on in every facet of the Penn West spirit.
