Finding Strength in Self-Discovery
For Rachel Kister, attending PennWest Clarion wasn’t just about following in her sister’s footsteps—it was about carving her own path. As a communication major, she quickly found ways to get involved, taking on leadership roles in the University Activities Board, Student Senate, Eagle Media, and even serving as a student trustee.
"I wanted to make the most of every opportunity. Being involved on campus helped me grow—not just academically, but as a leader and as a person."
Her biggest challenge turned into one of her proudest accomplishments—reviving Eagle Media Productions, a student-run organization that had faded after COVID.
"I saw an opportunity to bring it back, to give students a creative space again. It wasn’t just about media production; it was about rebuilding a community."
For Kister, communication is more than a major—it’s a way to connect people and share meaningful stories. Now, she’s exploring opportunities in public relations and media, while also making time to travel and experience new perspectives.
"I’ve realized that growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. Whether it’s leading a student organization or traveling to a new place, I want to keep pushing myself forward."
